Dove Real Beauty Sketches Campaign

Dove’s newest campaign on what “real beauty” means was recently unveiled, and with over 9 million views, you’d think it was a success. I’ll admit, when I watched the video for the first time I got a little emotional. However, after re-watching the commercial, although intended to be revolutionary, wasn’t really different at all. Yes, that is the new VW Beetle in a way that I’m sure you’ve never seen before. As a part of Mediacom’s new campaign for Volkswagen, they’ve turned the iconic automobile into an underwater shark cage. (Just in time for Shark Week, too!) Read more about the process behind this unique idea here.

I love the 3 advertisements below because they don’t feel like advertisements. You’re transported to a place, you feel a certain emotion, you genuinely enjoy watching the video.

That’s what I think makes a great ad. I’m so used to seeing the same uncaring, “we just want your money”, “buy from us not them” commercials, it’s exhausting.

These 3 videos are a breath of fresh air and really do put me in a better mood. I’m in awe with how creative people can be, it’s truly inspiring.
